Dear ValueCapper and Friend,

It’s once again Derby week, with the 150th Run for the Roses taking place this Saturday, May 4, 2024.

This is the first Derby without Michael and we have had many asking if we would continue the tradition of a Derby rant. I am happy to say that with the tremendous help of Bob Harris and Sam Meola, we have put together our own take on a Derby rant.

As usual, the large Derby field presents unique challenges to horse and horseplayer alike as 20 three-year-olds attempt a new distance in front of a large and exuberant crowd.

ValueCapper has the three morning line favorites at the top, but is there value lurking just behind them?

In addition to the Derby, there are nine other races that Bob and Sam have highlighted on the Saturday cards. As you might expect, Derby Day can present nice opportunities in the other races leading up to the Big One, and this day should be no different.
