Re: Important Note re: ValueCapper 2.2.4.1266
I downloaded the new software and launched VC but Laurel morning lines for today, Feb 9 did not show up. Closed VC restarted by surface laptop but LRL morning lines did not show up again. Is there a fix for this?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Hi Craig -
No problem. I completely understand.
I was the PM for Microsoft Threat Modeling Tool for a few years - totally ancient code.

Thanks!

So, the good news is that the Laurel M/L odds are now available, as of approx. 2:30 EST today. Further good news is that they were NOT missing due to the new software update.
The bad news is that the "final" LRL card was not generated in a timely way -- this file should have been marked final, including M/L odds, as of Friday. I am taking a look as to possible causes and will report back. This is obviously not something that happens on a regular basis, so it'll be good to figure out what happened.

If Microsoft is telling me there will be no more updates available in Windows10? Is my 4yr old SurfacePro 7 now a paper weight? If so, why is every business still selling computers, laptops, towers, all-in-ones, surfaces with Windows10 still? Looks to me like the biggest grift ever? I ask this because I guess I am forced to purchase a new Windows11 whatever. Big Tech huh?.....Rob

UPDATE: After a bit of digging, it looks like the internal flag we use to indicate whether or not a card is "final" -- and thus includes Morning Line Odds and Program Numbers -- was not set by our data provider until early this afternoon, after the first races at Laurel had been run. We'll be taking a look at adding additional checks on our side to prevent this from happening again. I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.Craig Micallef wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2025 2:43 pmSo, the good news is that the Laurel M/L odds are now available, as of approx. 2:30 EST today. I think it will be interesting to see if Microsoft holds the line on their October 2025 "end of support" deadline for Windows 10. There are still an awful lot of PCs out there running Win 10, and many can't be upgraded to Win 11. Technically, I think the PCs still being sold with Win 10 are older models, but you're not wrong -- if you buy one of those now, you better make sure it can be upgraded to Windows 11, otherwise you're SOL.RSKERK wrote: ↑Sun Feb 09, 2025 2:46 pmIf Microsoft is telling me there will be no more updates available in Windows10? I don't work in the Devices & Experiences division, so I don't have any special insight in terms of what the company's plans are regarding Windows 10 support. With that said, I suspect there will be a workaround that will allow you to install Windows 11 on non-compatible hardware. This will allow you to run Windows 11 and get updates, but you won't get the security benefits, so there will be some significant security risks.
I am in the same boat. I have a Surface 7 and won't get a new one because the newer ones only have USB-C connectors, which means the dongle will require an adapter, and I can guarantee that I'll either destroy the USB-C port or just lose the dongle every other weekend as it will fall out of the port every other week because those USB-C ports are super wimpy

Now, if we can get Craig to support PassKeys - then we won't need the dongle

Thanks!
Tom
